Anthropomorphic Otter

This was my first attempt at 3D illustration. I was assigned to create an anthropomorphic character combining human and animal attributes together. Once I knew I wanted to focus on river otters, I researched heavily into their qualities and characteristics. I found that they are active predators who eat all kinds of crustaceans and fish. I also found that river otters are very playful, and live in thriving family communities. That’s when it hit me to put otters in environments like ice fishing, and on crab boats. For the final character I used numerous elements to bring him to life, and constructed the character out of cut bristol, watercolor paint, rubber cement, and basal wood. I used found objects to build the fence, crab pot, and buoy. Thank you and enjoy!
